The 16th death anniversary of a young Tamil journalist gunned down by unidentified gunmen has taken place in Jaffna.
A photograph of Sahadevan Nilakshan was garlanded and lamps were lit by his colleagues and others at Jaffna media club on 01 August.
The 22-year-old was a media student of the MRTC of the Jaffna University and edited ‘Sangam’, a publication of the district students union.
On the morning of 01 August 2007, men in a motorcycle shot him in front of his parents near their home at Kokkuvil West.
No impartial inquiry has taken place into his murder so far.
