Energy minister Kanchana Wijesekara has warned strong action against filling stations that fail to maintain adequate stocks.
A total of 162 CPC-run filling stations did not have 50 per cent of petrol and auto diesel supplies by yesterday (30).
This is because, according to the CPC, they are anticipating the fuel price revision next month, he tweeted.
They had not placed adequate orders either to maintain stock requirements, added the minister.
Previously, the CPC took over several filling stations after they did not maintain adequate stocks.
Some of them had even been taken to courts, said Wijesekara.
