A Sri Lankan couple, both of whom are Ayurvedic doctors, have been felicitated by Japan for their philanthropy.
The Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Foundation in Fukuoka bestowed an honorary award on H.M. Withanachchi and Malee Withanachchi recently.
It was in recognition of their charitable work at Dambana in Mahiyangana, where they spent their personal wealth on an Ayurvedic museum and education centre.
The 20,000 square feet facility houses books and other sources that enlighten users on Ayurvedic medicinal practices.
