The SJB’s working committee will take a final decision with regard to the president’s invitation to join the government to resolve national issues, said general secretary of the party Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
The SJB was yet to be officially informed of what the president’s intentions are, Madduma Bandara has told the media.
He noted that even previously, the president made such invitations, but never came forward for discussions.
Madduma Bandara said his party was well aware of the president’s intention, which is aimed at his hopes at the next presidential election.
The SJB is prepared to do anything for the country to save it from bankruptcy, but a cohesive plan of action is needed to be implemented, he stressed.
A president who could not protect his party or his parliamentary seat is incapable of giving a guarantee to the SJB on the position of opposition leader, he said.
