The son of MP Dayasiri Jayasekara was robbed by a knife-wielding man at Layard’s Road in Bambalapitiya on July 03, police said.
Kaveen Jayasekara was relieved of Rs. 3,000 in cash and a white gold necklace worth Rs. 163,000.
Using CCTV footage, police have identified the robber to be a drug addict and are looking to arrest him.
The robber had first asked for money, and when refused, took out a knife and threatened him.
In a tweet, Kaveen corrected certain inaccuracies in media reports and said he was outside a friend’s house on the road when he was robbed.
He said he was not in a car with his girlfriend as claimed.
