Anyone finding fault with the manner of the domestic debt restructuring process should come up with an alternative, said SLPP MP Sagara Kariyawasam.
Claiming that there was no option to the DDR, he said at a media briefing yesterday (04) that those who oppose it were the ones responsible for the country’s present plight.
Kariyawasam also accused them of sabotaging tourism by forcing a close down of the country during the covid-19 pandemic.
Namal’s stand
Ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa and his son Namal Rajapaksa were notable absentees at the debate and the vote on the DDR resolution in parliament on July 01.
Later, at a SLPP meeting in Hiniduma, the younger Rajapkasa explained reasons for his absence, and said any decision for nation-building should be a populist one.
