A director of local footwear maker DSI Group has been arrested for paying an army deserter to fire shots at his own home over a business dispute with his family.

Two shots fired at the house in Borella in the early hours of June 22 hit the gate.

In a complaint to police, the businessman alleged death threats to him from his family members.

During investigations, it was found that he had paid Rs. 600,000 to the ex-soldier to fire at his own home in an attempt to implicate his family members.

Police have seized a T-56 rifle used for firing the shots and arrested a third man, who had acted as the middleman between the two.
