MP Udaya Gammanpila has blamed faulty computer software for the many issues in the selection of beneficiaries under the ‘Aswesuma’ poverty relief programme.
Speaking to the media, the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader said any shortcomings on the part of officials could not have created issues of that magnitude.
Gammanpila said that with the assistance of an official, he accessed the data bank and found proof for his claim.
He said the appealing process would not yield desired results, as fresh data would be entered to an already faulty collection of data.
As solutions, he proposed identifying faults in the software, providing proper training to the officials and double-checking the entered data.
