A suggestion for a change in the uniform of schoolchildren is under consideration to prevent them from getting bitten by mosquitos, said the Education Ministry.
The western provincial subcommittee on dengue prevention has suggested a uniform that fully covers their limbs.
Education secretary Nihal Ranasinghe said they would consider its practicability if they receive the proposal.
Dr. Seetha Arambepola made this suggestion to the provincial subcommittee on dengue prevention.
A high percentage of schoolchildren are among the 44,530 dengue patients reported so far this year.
It was as high as 30 pc in the western province.
The total number of fatalities is 27.
