President Ranil Wickremesinghe is considering the possibility of dissolving parliament if internal disruptions persist against the continuation of the government, said reliable sources.

He is especially concerned by a SLPP demand to appoint 10 of its seniors, including Johnston Fernando, Gamini Lokuge, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and S.M. Chandrasena, as cabinet members, according to the sources.

Meanwhile, the president has invited leaders of government affiliate parties, including Mahinda and Basil Rajapaksa, for a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (14).

Two days earlier, he summoned district leaders and other seniors of the SLPP to the Presidential Secretariat to discuss the political and economic situation.

Although around 45 were invited, the only district leaders present were Pavitra Wanniarachchi, Prasanna Ranatunga, Ramesh Pathirana, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Thenuka Vidanagamage and Kapila Atukorale.

Notably, S.M. Chandrasena, Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Gamini Lokuge, Namal Rajapaksa, Sagara Kariyawasam, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Johnston Fernando boycotted the meeting.

A SLPP senior said they informed the president to summon party politicians, who are not ministers, only through the leaders of the party.
