As many as 10 CT scanners out of a total of 43 in the government hospital system have fully malfunctioned, said the association of government radiographers.
Its president Chanaka Dharmawickrama said three other machines are not running at their full capacities.
Further, two of the 13 MRI scanners owned by government hospitals are malfunctioning.
Health minister Keheliya Rambukwella said approval has been received to grant Rs. four billion to the Health Ministry to purchase and repair medical equipment at government hospitals.
