Ravi Karunanayake should be entrusted with the United National Party's (UNP) political campaigning to be groomed as the successor to Ranil Wickremesinghe, an academic has stressed.
Prof. Milton Rajaratne, founder and dean of management at Peradeniya University, has stressed this in an interview given to the media.
He said, “The news that Ravi Karunanayake, recognized as the best finance minister in Asia, is to be given a top position in the UNP is most welcome news. If that happens, the UNP’s political future will be well set up.”
“As the university community, we stress that as the probable successor to Ranil Wickremesinghe, Karunanayake should be entrusted with all responsibilities and tasks relating to the UNP’s political campaign.”
“Ravi Karunanayake is educated. An intellect. Talented. Well-mannered. Friendly. Outgoing. He has a network of international relations. The entire world recognizes him. Also, he appears for the helpless, poor people. He is not arrogant. Not conceited. He answers the phone event at midnight. He is well-experienced. He thinks like a youth. He has been cleared by courts.”
“Due to these skills and qualities, Ravi Karunanayake can unite people from all walks of life. If he is promoted up in the UNP, we can assist the party as the university community by way of ideology. He also has the strength to bring together again the now-scattered academics, who have supported the UNP.”
