There is a proposal for the annulment of the nominations for the local government polls, said state minister of local government Janaka Wakkumbura.
It came at a recent meeting, chaired by premier Dinesh Gunawardena as the subject minister, of the parliamentary committee on the ministry of public administration, provincial councils and local government.
SLFP’s Dayasiri Jayasekara suggested that fresh nominations be called for the LG polls under the new delimitation method.
Lasantha Alagiyawanne, a state minister, seconded it, after which all MPs present expressed agreement.
Wakkumbura said however, no final decision has been taken yet.
