Two Sri Lankans have been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2023.
It is awarded annually for the best piece of unpublished short fiction from the region.
Rukshani Weerasooriya Wijemanne, who lives in Colombo, and Himali McInnes, now a New Zealand resident, are among 28 writers from 19 countries across the Commonwealth selected from over 6,600 submissions from 56 countries.
Rukshani has been chosen for her story ‘Principles of Accounting’, while Himali’s ‘Kilinochchi’ made it to the finalists.
The regional winners this year will be announced on May 17 and the overall winner on June 27.
