Almost all telecommunications appliances sellers do not possess a commercial license from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRCSL).
Its director of surveillance and quality of service Tharalika Livera placed the figure at 99 per cent.
The TRCSL has to lodge a complaint first with the police which will raid the premises that sell appliances in violation of the laws, she said.
It has already prepared a list of such violators, against whom police complaints will be made, added the TRCSL official.
