Government printer Gangani Liyanage is yet to receive money to print ballot papers for the local government polls, she has informed the Election Commission.

She has also told EC chairman Nimal Punchihewa that the ballot papers already printed could not be handed over to the commission yet either, as their inspection under police protection is ongoing.

In this scenario, the postal voting is unlikely to take place as scheduled at the end of this month.

Tenure of 340 LG bodies ends tomorrow

Bringing them under special commissioners was discussed by subject minister, premier Dinesh Gunawardena, and provincial governors recently.
