A Tamil man from Trincomalee banished by India has been arrested upon his return at the Katunayake airport.
Sellapakkiayam Suthakaran, who is alleged to be a member of the LTTE, had gone to India in 2018 and had been taken to a refugee camp at Trichy in Tamil Nadu.
After five years and a court hearing, he was deported on February 25, and returned to be questioned and arrested by the CTID.
His elder brother has been told by the Trincomalee office of the Human Rights Commission that Suthakaran had been taken to the CID.
However, a Defence Ministry receipt says he is being detained at the CTID at Butani Capital building at Kirulapone.
Relatives are yet to be informed of his condition.
