The SLFP has appointed Sarath Ekanayake, a former central province chief minister, as acting general secretary of the party.
He will serve in a temporary capacity during an overseas visit by the regular office-bearer Dayasiri Jayasekara.
Ekanayake received his appointment letter from party chairman Maithripala Sirisena at the party head office today (06).
