The printing of ballot papers for the local government polls has been put off indefinitely, news1st.lk reported.
Uncertainty over the election date and the non-availability of funding and police protection etc. have prompted the decision, said the Government Press.
The ballot papers that have already been printed are being kept safely, it said.
With the requirements in place, the Government Press said, all ballot papers could be printed within 30 days.
