SJB MP Mayantha Dissanayake has rejected a party request to resign from the chairmanship of Committee on Public Finance (COPF), according to lankadeepa.lk.
Government MPs named Dissanayake for the position, while chief opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella proposed SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva.
Kiriella has telephoned Dissanayake and inquired if he would accept the position, and the latter said he would do so.
He said further that he was not prepared to vacate the COPF chair.
The SJB is to take action against him for having gone against the party decision.
Kiriella said he believed de Silva having done his duty properly had cost him the position.
