No risk whatsoever should be taken to derail the economy at a time when the country is faced with a grave economic crisis, said the head of UNP’s Education, Training and Research (ETR), Kishan Theodore.

Also a well-known entrepreneur, Theodore made the remark in Nuwara Eliya on Thursday (08) during a workshop that was part of a series of district-level awareness events for the party activists.

He stressed the time was not right for risk-taking by giving power to those who cannot create solutions, but make criticisms only, as the country was raising its head from the economic crisis and the socioeconomic calamity.

People took a similar risk to change the good governance regime, during which an egg cost only Rs. 8.00, and skyrocketed to Rs. 68 thereafter, Theodore noted.

Former tourism minister, ex-JVP member Achala Jagoda, former lecturer at the University of Colombo and former consultant to the Ministry of Higher Education Dilanthe Withanage, convener of Prabuddha Lanka Dr. Chaminda Malalasekara and Kishan Theodore are the resource persons for these workshops organized by the UNP’s ETR division.

The workshops started on February 02 from Puttalam and were also held on February 06 in Kegalle and February 07 in Kalutara.

The next workshop takes place tomorrow in Matara.

Commenting on the opposition’s anti-government stand, Jagoda said “the answer is philosophic as long as the question is not one’s own.”
