Spokesperson of the Catholic Church Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando has been released on police bail in connection with a road accident.
According to police sources, a vehicle driven by him collided with a motorcycle parked by the roadside at Armour Street in Colombo around 5.30 PM yesterday (01).
Fr. Gamini rushed the injured man to Colombo National Hospital (CNH) and later informed Kotahena police about the incident.
With police inquiries from the CNH revealing the man has two of his ribs broken, Fr. Gamini was taken into custody.
Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith telephoned senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon and requested that Fr. Gamini be released on police bail, which was done this morning.
