As many as 12,000 instances of social media misuse have been reported within the past 10 months.
The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has received information about the incidents, said state minister Kanaka Herath in parliament today (02).
They include harassment of women and children through facebook and other social media, he said, adding that parents and IT teachers should pay more attention to this situation.
A digital education policy will be formulated with the intention of using IT to uplift the economy, Herath also said.
