The Lanka Coal Company has taken measures as per recommendations by the attorney general and the auditor general to choose a new supplier, a senior official of the Ministry of Power and Energy said.

This has been done in consideration of recent criticism by COPE and the media of the coal purchasing process.

The new chairman of the company has fully adhered to the recommendations in calling a new tender in a more transparent manner, said the official.

The tender will be opened today (25) for the acquiring of 300,000 metric tons in five shipments from December.
