Dr Hans Wijesuriya, an experienced global telecommunications executive, will join to head the President AKD-led government's digital economy, a government source says.
He is to step down from his current position and work for the government pro bono, according to the source. He is currently working as the CEO of Axiata Group's Telecommunications Business. He formally served as the group CEO of Dialog Axiata PLC, and he also founded Axiata Digital Services. Hans is also a past chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
The father of Hans, the late Mr P M W Wijesuriya, is regarded as the most distinguished Auditor General, who was not only honest but also highly talented.
