A new blue-coloured passport has been introduced by the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

The Sri Lankan passport has undergone significant changes, including a change to 48 pages, compared to the 64 pages previously.

Also, the numbering format has changed from 'N' numbers to 'P' numbers in the new passport.

Each page is adorned with beautiful photographs showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and iconic landmarks.

They include the Jaffna Nallur Temple, the Historic Galle Dutch Fort, Sri Dalada Maligawa, Colombo's Lotus Tower, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa historical sites and the nine arches bridge.

The new design also features images of local industries such as tea plantations, rubber tapping, and stilt fishermen.
