National People’s Power (NPP) Leader and Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that he will rule the country constitutionally until the new Parliament convenes after becoming the President of this country.

He said this while participating in an NPP election rally held at Ja-Ela recently.

“Parliament will be dissolved by the NPP government at the very beginning. Then people question what will happen to the Cabinet until the next parliament is elected.

Don’t worry. There are three possible ways. Constitutionally, we will rule the country in the meantime. Do you know how we will do that? When we win, my seat in Parliament will be vacant. Then a new member can be appointed for the vacant post. The new Cabinet will be formed from the three members and myself. It is according to the Constitution.

Otherwise, the President can take all the subjects under his control Constitutionally, or a caretaker government can be formed. Therefore, we will rule the country constitutionally by dissolving the Parliament and a new parliament is appointed.

The Parliamentary Election will be held next. Now there is a big debate in the country regarding sending a large number of MPs in this parliament home.

We know that two thirds of those who are there now will not be in the next parliament. Parliament met and adjourned again till October 8. Accordingly, today is the last day of parliament for those 2/3 people. After that, a large majority of the NPP will be elected to parliament in the next Parliamentary Election.

Then, we will form a strong Cabinet with a maximum of 25 members. Subjects will be divided scientifically. Until now, the Ministries were divided not to build the country but to gain personal benefits of each Minister and their henchmen.

We divide the Ministries by making mergers suitable for each subject.

We will cancel the car permits given to MPs. This time mark your cross properly. Those who should be sent home can be sent home only then. Ranil is not the only one who will go home on September 21. There will be some more. This is a very powerful vote. We have been engaged in this politics for a long time despite many difficulties.,” said the NPP leader.
