After attending the Security Council meeting at the Defence Ministry, the president went directly to parliament to take part in the budget debate.

Speaking at the time was SJB’s Eran Wickramaratne.

Later on, the president went out of the chamber into the opposition’s atrium and chatted with Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Kavinda Jayawardena, Waruna Liyanage, Uddika Premaratne as well as Wajira Abeywardena and MPs of the TNA and Muslim parties.

After getting to know about that, the opposition leader became alarmed and arrived there dressed in a short-sleeved green-coloured shirt and in slippers, which are unsuitable garb for parliament.

By that time, the president was making his return back to the government side.

What would have happened had the two encountered?

The president then met Mahinda Rajapaksa and conversed a bit.

Johnston Fernando, Prasanna Ranatunga, Sumith Udukumbura, Shasheendra Rajapaksa, Tissa Kuttiarachchi and Milan Jayatilake made their presence felt there.
