Out of all the Lankan politicians, the most baffling case for me is Ranil Wickremasinghe.

Colombo: At a time when Sri Lanka was grappling with its worst economic and food crisis and when its citizens were facing a never seen before inflation, a World Bank grant meant to address the brewing farm crisis and disbursed to poor farmers and beneficiaries could not be completed due to poor planning.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is reported to have told the cabinet of ministers, priority has to be given to the IMF program to ensure economic stability and elections will have to be postponed till the IMF program is concluded.

Approximately 2456 km from Kuala Lumpur, where I now reside is Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, my home country. Something happens in Colombo over three consecutive days in early March that tugs at my heartstrings.
