All parties to two court cases filed in the court of appeal with regard to elections for Football Federation of Sri Lanka have been settled.

Accordingly, sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe has given approval to make arrangements for holding the election.

That will end an 11-month long crisis in the local game and allow a free election.

Approval has been given to hold the election in 16 September under the supervision of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The election is expected to pave the way for FIFA to lift its international suspension of Sri Lanka.
