Safari tourism in the Yala National Park will be over within the next 10 years, warned former wildlife chief Dr. Sumith Pilapitiya.
Signs are already there of what is in store in a decade’s time, he said, especially noting to the speedy reduction of animal density at the park.
Going by their social media posts, foreigners visiting Yala do not have a positive attitude towards it too, said Dr. Pilapitiya.
He blamed all the parties involved - Safari jeep drivers, officials and even visitors - for the situation.
