The Army has declared all its camps and bungalows out-of-bounds for all retired personnel for a 25-day period from 01 September.
The order was relayed on 26 August on the Army commander’s instructions without informing the president or the defence secretary, reports aruna.lk.
The Army headquarters has also prohibited its personnel, both uniformed and civilian, from any involvement in election propaganda via social media or attending political meetings or promoting parties.
Furthermore, all leave has been cancelled on 05 September, when postal voting for the presidential polls takes place.
