Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s (SLPP) Presidential candidate and MP Namal Rajapaksa emphasized that he is not ready to increase the state’s income by selling the state’s properties but by developing the state’s property and increasing the state’s income.

Pointing out that some people are trying to sell state properties as a policy, he recalls that none of the properties sell by these rulers are not built by them.

He made these remarks while joining an election rally held on Wednesday (28) in Hakmana town to confirm the victory of the SLPP in the 2024 presidential election.

“Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa wanted to develop the village then. There was a need to make a marketplace to sell the vegetables and other crops of the village farmer. There should be a place to sell the harvest that is harvested from the rural level,” he added.

Speaking about the three decade of terrorism he said that many leaders asked for power to bring peace at that time.

Some people signed agreements with terrorists. But the slogan of some of them for 30 years. was to end the war. But President Rajapaksa did that work within three years, Rajapaksa said.

“He not only ended the war but also took necessary steps to improve the rural economy of this country and improve infrastructure facilities. In the past, some people have tried to destroy the pride of the war heroes. These evil forces try to destroy the culture of this country,” he added.

On the other hand, certain rulers tried to destroy the pride of the war heroes of this country.

“However, we are working in a government to protect the honour of the war hero who sacrificed to protect the country. We have to protect that honour and pride,” he noted.

He said that their government will bring investors to provide the jobs that the young generation is looking for. It is created the necessary background for the investors who bring them to the national and village level. It is a must to build the infrastructure. It should create the necessary environment for investment.

“We are taking steps to start an industry in every district under a government that we are forming. The programme to end unemployment is being implemented in the job creation programme as well as the transformation combined with the technology expected by the youth of this country. After the winning of the election on September 22, we are working to establish your government to turn this country into a workplace again,” he added.

He further said that during the Rajapaksa era, the farmer’s economy was strengthened. Investors were brought in. Highways were constructed. Developed the tourism industry. All this stopped after 2015.

“So, we have a responsibility to start them soon. Accordingly, from the place where Mahinda Rajapaksa stopped the development of this country in the year 2015, there is a responsibility to once again bring development to the village from the 22nd of September and make Sri Lanka the most developed country in Asia. Accepting that responsibility. We need to bring technology. We have to integrate technology. The technological revolution expected by the youth of the country should be brought to public service. The dignity of the public servant should be protected and the service to the people through public service should be combined with technology,” he noted.

He pointed out that it was not possible to finish the passport queue because the government service in this country was not integrated with technology.
