MP Rajitha Senaratne has endorsed Thalatha Athukorale’s call for unity between Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa, saying it could have been the best thing to do for the country.
Addressing the media at Sirikotha yesterday (27), Senaratne said however, Premadasa refused to do so.
The SJB has supporters who still believe Premadasa could win, and are reluctant to ally with Wickremesinghe, he claimed.
However, there are some who will extend their support to the president as the campaign progresses, he added.
Speaking further, he warned Sri Lankans who are presently overseas against their readiness to be present on election day to vote for Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
If they vote for the NPP candidate, they should stay here and face the consequences too, said Senaratne.
