The Minister of Education, Dr. Susil Premajayantha, while noting the country’s economic growth is a focal factor in this presidential election, said presidential candidate,

Ranil Wickremesinghe, does not need advice from anyone on governance and State affairs as he has proven his capabilities by his actions.

The Minister stated this while attending a pocket meeting, to address the people of Kaduwela, Navagamuwa-South, to ensure President Wickremesinghe’s victory at the forthcoming election.

Schools that were closed have been opened and in order, to continue the smooth functions of providing school textbooks, uniforms and school lunches to the children on time, restoring the exam schedule, filling the shortage of teachers, and preparing the basis for new educational reforms and digitisation, the incumbent President must continue to be in office after the elections.

He further said that all this was possible because the country’s bankrupt economy was restored and the President took responsibility and acted in an otherwise anarchy situation.

He noted that all the people could gather around Wickremesinghe, a non-partisan, non-racial independent candidate disregarding what colours or parties they believed in in the past.

He said that the current President, who recovered the country’s economy with the support of the International Monetary Fund, is already working on to increase the salaries of government employees next year. The minister also said the Government cannot be run by a novice.
