It is president Ranil Wickremesinghe who accepted the challenge of a bankrupt country even as the constitution made no mention about what to do in such an eventuality, said minister Susil Premajayantha.
He was speaking at ‘Puluwan Sri Lanka’ media briefing in Colombo yesterday (23).
The president fulfilled the people’s desire of seeing the country coming out of the economic abyss, and they didn’t seek an election at the time, said Premajayantha.
Warning that disruptive elements were still at work, the minister urged the people not to allow them a free reign.
It is the people who should decide the country’s leader, he added.
