Additional solicitor general Parinda Ranasinghe is tipped to be appointed the new attorney general, ‘Deshaya’ reports.
The president’s counsel is the son of former chief justice Parinda Ranasinghe (senior).
He counts 31 years in the AG’s department.
The president will send his name to the constitutional council shortly, said the newspaper.
However, state-run ‘Silumina’ claims the president will resend his recommendation to the CC that incumbent Sanjay Rajaratnam be given a six month extension.
