Cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardena finds nothing wrong in theSLPP’s hopes on incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe to be its candidate at the next presidential polls.
Wickemesinghe is favoured by both the government MPs and the country as the leader capable of rebuilding the country with honesty, fearlessness and strength, he said.
Gunawardena was answering a question posed by a journalist at the weekly cabinet news briefing today (04).
President Wickremesinghe has already taken the country to a somewhat positive footing from the abyss it had been in, said the minister.
The SLPP is yet to adopt a proposal in that regard, but he has won the approval of the party, he added.
His colleague, minister Kanchana Wijesekara, said previously that Wickremesinghe has been proposed to be the SLPP’s candidate at the next presidential election.
