The attorney general has considered a request by the IGP and decided to appeal against the releasing of IUSF convener Wasantha Mudalige on bail, said Justice Ministry sources.

He was released on bail by the Colombo Fort magistrate’s court yesterday (01) in connection with three cases against him over his alleged refusal to accept court rulings and violation of court orders.

He remained under detention and remand custody for 168 days under the PTA.

After getting bail, Mudalige stressed that he is not prepared to kneel down before the government and vows to continue the struggles against its repression of the people.

Mudalige said, “The government wanted to imprison us and murder us if possible. I will speak to the media tomorrow and reveal how it made the plans and to where I was taken.”
