President of the National Interfaith Clergy Fellowship Ven. Galagama Dhammaransi Thera said that their Fellowship will give their utmost support to all the good actions taken by current President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to create unity and religious peace and harmony among the nations.

The Thera also wished that the new President would be able to bear the fruits of national religious welfare and people’s aspirations.

Ven. Dhammaransi Thera expressed these views while joining the special press conference held on Wednesday (02) at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo.

Speaking further, the Thera stated that their Fellowship, which has been working for more than two decades to create national, religious, peace and harmony without any recommendation, is committed to providing public services more widely in the future.

The Thera further added that the election result of the recent Presidential Election proved that there is no more room for ethnicity, tribalism, racism or religion in the Sri Lankan political arena.

NICF Treasurer and Coordinator of Hindu Religious Affairs Dr. Siva Babusharma Kurukkal said that the NICF has actively contributed to national unity and religious harmony for more than two decades.

“We are a group that has been committed to building national unity for a long time. Racism should never be allowed to reoccur,” he emphasized.

Co-Chairman of the NICF and Coordinator of Islamic Religious Affairs Dr. Al Haj Hasin Mawlana Mawlawi said that the good measures taken by the government will be supported by their fellowship.

“The new President has declared that he is dedicated to bringing prosperity and peace to the people of the country by eradicating theft, corruption and fraud. We appreciate that statement very much. We support the measures taken by the government to create national unity and religious harmony,” he said.

NICF General Secretary and Coordinator of Christian religious affairs Fr Nishan Sampath Cooray said that national unity and religious harmony is a very necessary factor for the peace of a country.

Speaking to the media, Pastor Jerome Fernando said that he implements social service programmes regardless of caste, race and religion.
