Former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara has taken legal action against Ven. Pahiyangala Ananda Sagara Thera for issuing false statements regarding the foreign employment sector.
Nanayakkara has sent a letter of demand to the Thera, claiming compensation of Rs. 500 million through his lawyers yesterday (04).
The letter of demand sent by the former Minister said that there is no basis for the statements made by Ven. Ananda Sagara Thera that people have been referred for foreign jobs by a foreign employment agency belonging to a relative of his (Nanayakkara) and that they have earned millions of money from the deal.
It is also stated in the letter of demand that Ven. Ananda Sagara Thera had issued statements mentioning Nanayakkara’s name on several occasions with the purpose of deliberately defaming him.
