Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential Candidate MP Namal Rajapaksa said that he will be addressing the need to provide jobs to the youth and it is necessary to provide required facilities to the fishermen as it is only by providing them with technology that they can increase their income.

He said that it is possible to strengthen the economy of the fishermen only by increasing the fish harvest and that the SLPP government has the programme to achieve that and that unfortunately, according to the current government policy, everything is brought from abroad.

The SLPP Presidential Candidate said this while addressing the public rally on Tuesday (03) at Arachchikattuwa in Chilaw in the Puttalam district.

He said, “If Sanath Nishantha was alive, he would be here today. If he was alive, he would be at the forefront of my election campaign. No matter what challenge came, he never betrayed Mahinda Rajapaksa and our camp. Today his wife also has taken the responsibility and gives us tremendous strength. The Puttalam district is not a new place for us. He gave a lot of support to Mahinda Rajapaksa. He did a lot of work when he was Fisheries Minister.

“This district is almost similar to the Hambantota district. Therefore, we know the opinions of these people. These villages were developed back then because we have an understanding of the environment in which these people live and because we were keen to develop them. We wanted to provide the same facilities to the children of these villages as the children of the city and to give the village children the same income as the city children.”
