The Election Commission of Sri Lanka is yet to take appropriate action despite continuous complaints about violations of election laws, the European Commission has been told.
An organization called ‘Sri Lanka Reforms’ has written to the EC, requesting its intervention to ensure a fair and democratic electoral process.
Signed by lawyer Dhanuka Rananjaka Kahandagamage, it cites an NPP event on 29 July, where government nurses in their official uniforms were brought in to participate in a political event.
“Your support and oversight could play a crucial role in addressing these concerns and ensuring that electoral laws are upheld,” added the letter.
