The Nochchiyagama magistrate reprimanded the police for failing to arrest Thambugala, who himself was warned not to intimidate officials after surrendering to courts.
On 26 July, more than 100 veterans in the musical field held a media briefing to speak on his behalf and requested the president and other authorities not to disrupt the musical shows by Aura Lanka that give them much economic strength.
Anyway, Thambugala has entrusted the coordinating aspects of the musical shows to a character who had been with Ranil when he was the PM during the good governance regime.
A young lawyer, he was married at the time to a daughter of a leading UNP politician.
Later, he left Ranil and sided with Sajith and even contested the last general election.
