The Samagi Jana Balawegaya was registered by the late Mangala Samaraweera,
and it is surprising that Kanchana Wijesekera, a minister from Matara, was unaware of it, said SJB MP Eran Wickramaratne in Parliament.
He said Wijesekera’s statement in Parliament was misleading and that since February 2020, Ranjith Madduma Bandara functions as general secretary of the SJB and Sajith Premadasa as its leader.
Madduma Bandara signed the nomination papers for the general election in March 2020.
The Supreme Court has recognized his position in a case filed by the UNP, he added.
