Secretary of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) Indika Thenuwara has resigned from his position.

Also secretary of the Matara Football League, Thenuwara successfully contested for the position at the January 14 FFSL elections.

He contested from the group that supports ex-MP J. Sri Ranga, who was elected the president.

According to FFSL sources, the reason for Thenuwara’s resignation is that he is now displeased with the conduct of Ranga as the president.

At the election, all nominations for deputy secretary (administration) were rejected and the position still remains vacant.

With more than one month having passed since the office-bearers were elected, there are accusations the FFSL was yet to take any productive measure to develop the game.

In view of the situation, several supporters of Ranga are to discuss their next course of action.

They include Dr. Manil Fernando (Kalutara), Anura de Silva (Polgahawela), Rohitha Fernando (Wennappuwa), Ranjith Rodrigo (Negombo) and Sunil Senaweera (Gampola).

Ranga is yet to respond to a 35-point letter sent to him by Negombo Football League president Ranjith Rodrigo.
