Niroshan Premaratne has resigned as leader of the Democratic Left Front.
He has sent his resignation letter to party secretary Vasudeva Nanayakkara on 25 August.
Premaratne said in it that his decision has been prompted by the membership’s disinclination towards implementing the plans agreed upon in the context of the prevailing political situation.
Premaratne added that he should seek a ground appropriate for his political objectives for the sake of the suffering masses.
