Nine crew members - eight Indians and one Sri Lankan - have been rescued by the Indian warship INS Teg from an oil tanker that capsized off the coast of Oman.

Search and rescue operations continue to find the remaining crew members, who comprise five Indians and two Sri Lankans, said an Indian Navy spokesman in a post on X.

He said, “The #SearchAndRescue by Indian & Omani assets is being undertaken in challenging weather conditions as the area is experiencing rough sea & strong winds.”

Indian Navy's long range maritime reconnaissance aircraft P8I is also assisting in the search for survivors.

The oil tanker named MT Prestige Falcon capsized around 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah, near the port town of Duqm, on Monday.
