Reports indicating that the Leader of the United National Party (UNP), Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been proposed to fill the vacant National List slot are completely false, a senior
UNP member said.
He made this statement while responding to media reports that the former Prime Minister and UNP Leader has been proposed to fill the UNP National List slot in Parliament.
Ranil Wickremesinghe is of the view that these news reports have been deliberately placed and propagated, the party stalwart added.
However, former UNP parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara said that although people were led to believe that Ranil could not back then, they have now realised that they cannot do without him.
