The Junior Bar Committee has written to the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) requesting them to initiate a dialog with the Ministry of Health to explore the possibility of

allocating suitable hospitals for lawyers affected by COVID-19.

Kuvera De Zoysa PC, Chairman of the Junior Bar Committee, who is also hoping to contest for the post of President of the BASL, has written to Kalinga Indatissa PC, the President of the BASL, stating that most government hospitals do not have adequate facilities, especially 'toilet facilities' and therefore requested the Bar Association to intervene to secure appropriate facilities for their members.

The letter was subject to criticism on social media and many called it a shameless act and a disgrace to the professionals of this country since this committee, which had no mention of the thousands of people who have been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, only requested special facilities for the members of the bar.
